Read the article (linked below) about global efforts required to reduce greenhouse gases and poverty. Discuss the relationship between global warming and poverty as well as any obligation we may (or may not) have to address the issue.

THE ARTICLE SAYS "Two years ago, the World Bank funded a deeply controversial 4,800-megawatt coal plant in SOUTH AFRICA..... Currently,
approving financing for a 600-megawatt coal plant in kosovo using lignite, the dirtiest form of coal. Meanwhile, activists say, PAKISTAN and MONGOLIA are vying for coal aid to their energy-poor nations..... what does this show us? Places that have no $$$$ get coal factories put in them. Its like building a waste plant or dumpsite in OUR poor neighborjhoods, only worse. Their air inevitibly affects OUR air. If they do poorly WE do poorly!
The majority ofcrappy effects of climate change are first and most strongly experienced by poor and low-income communities. Those in poverty have a higher chance of experiencing the ill-effects climate change more dramatically due to increased exposure and vulnerability, they are less able to cope with, adverse effects of climate change (look at our community, who suffers in extreme heat? old, homeless and the very young, stretch that out to the world population).
Global Warming has been a HUGE concern of mine as well as many. I mean, talk about the end of the world? Here it is if something doesn't change fast! The article speaks of how the lower income, people in poverty, will suffer the most. And it's true! Honestly, I feel that nothing will change because there is to much greed with these manufactuers, etc and no matter how important this subject is, they wont change their ways! SAD! :( This is our childrens futures!
Global warming and poverty both are natural causes we have done to ourselves. We build things that produce heat and is multiplying every year and changes to climate. Poverty on the other hand of course has no money and big companies with low money build companies near poverty that can hurt the climate like junk yards and factories and such. Plus getting nature friendly companies cost more money than low companies.
The relationship between global warming and poverty are intertwined and complicated. The United States hit its industrial revolution early on and progressed into a first world power and now a super power. This technological advantage was only made by progression that unfortunetly damaged the enviroment. Now we are at a cross roads to make a change or deal with consequences that are unappealing at the least. Fortunetly we have made a great many advances in clean power and are striving to protect the enviroment, but what about developing countries? Should they not be allowed to progress and join the rest of us in the 21st century? That is the problem that impovershed countries are causing. They do not have the infrastructure to become modern countries and the road to that goal is messy and not very enviromentaly friendly. The only way for these poor countries to develop and not amke such a large impact on the enviroment is going to be aid and help from the developed world. This seems to be a small price to pay as if we do not fix our problems with polution and help other countries to do the same, then the fiscal and resource impact of massive droughts, pandemics and wars over resources will be even more costly and damaging to the worlds economy and prosperity.
Global warming and poverty, its all greed, some of us want to better and make things simple in our daily lives. There is so many vehicles out there that harm the air and we inhale each day, abandoned factories, homes and new homes being built further out making new cities, when they should be repairing the old homes. Its sad to see that all goes on but we as people need to take responsible for what we done and how we need to teach our future which is our children.
of course global warming and poverty go hand in hand. its all about money in the end. they cut down trees in the Amazon to make money and dont hesitate to think about the long term effects. people with big money look at places where poverty is the worst and assume everyone that lives there is on their own because theres no return on the investment if they were to put money there. again not thinking of the long term effect it will have. the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer and we are all killing ourselves for money.
I believe that Global warming is not real its just another government skim to mess with use. Poverty on the other hand is real and it suck, but that is just the way it is. We are all domed we are all going to die anyways.

I think that in order to get these companies to comply, there needs to be more incentives. There needs to be more tax breaks and more laws to make this happen in a timely matter. I feel like these companies want to comply but not for a loss of profit and they will do everything they can to squeeze a few more bucks out before the government gets involved. These places that are known for their poverty get the brunt of all this selfishness. If there were some sort of law that met in the middle with these companies, then we could have them "phase out" into a greener alternative by a realistic suspense date.

I think as human beings we definitely have an obligation to do our part, if we don't, the only ones we are hurting are ourselves. Reading the article wasn't exactly shocking, it stated facts. Poor nations tend to bear most the consequences from global warming, and have a harder time recovering due to lack of resources and leadership. Underdeveloped places are essentially considered the dumping ground so it makes sense that the people living there would feel the effects first and also have a harder time recovering.
Global warming exist.Once we can get everyone to accept this one thing then may we can get somewhere.Because otherwise i do not think we will ever get beyond half the population believeing that God is making the earth warmer,Its not all that crap we throw out there and forget that like gravity everything comes back to a central point, eventually.Once we can get everyone with at least some basic knowledge of how our ozone layer and weather works with pollution maybe then we wil get somewhere.
